If you have any concerns in connection to a GTAs performance or conduct, please follow the steps below –
- Manager identifies a concern. (Please ensure when a GTA is engaged that the manager is aware they are the GTAs manager.)
- Manager aims to resolve the concern informally if appropriate and if they feel able to.
- If a more serious issue or manager needs advice on what to do, manager to seek advice from your Senior Faculty HR Business Partner HR Business Partnering team (Faculties) | King’s College London (kcl.ac.uk)
- The Senior Faculty HR Business Partner team will provide advice to managers to support them to resolve it informally or will discuss with manager a formal process, this will involve discussion as to whether it’s a capability or a disciplinary issue
- Manager or Employee Relations Coordinator to email student services on Appeals@kcl.ac.uk to alert them of the issue and arrange a meeting to manage the situation as a joined-up approach.
- Matter is dealt with under the appropriate employment policy for staff under either Capability or Disciplinary.
Concerns about a PhD student
- The student conduct and appeal team will manage any student concerns
- The student conduct and appeal team will email rachel.terry@kcl.ac.uk and kingsteachers@kcl.ac.uk to confirm if a student is a GTA.
- If it is confirmed that the student is a GTA, the manager will need to follow the steps shown above where the Faculty HR Business Partner team will be involved the matter is dealt with under the appropriate employment policy for staff under either Capability or Disciplinary.
